Mangaluru :  Six transgenders have been arrested on the charges of trying to assault Asif Apathbandhava who has been protesting in a unique way demanding the closure of the Suratkal toll gate.

Asif had lodged a complaint stating that the transgenders abused and assaulted him while he was protesting late night.

Those arrested are Vasavi Gowda (32) of Mandya, Lipika (19) of Davanagere, Hima (24) of Hassan, Maitri (28) of Ramnagar, Adya (22) of Mysuru and Maya (28). All of them are presently residents of Pandavapura.

They have been booked under IPC Sections 143, 147, 504,294 and 149 and produced before the court.

The transgenders on the other hand have alleged that the protestors had misbehaved with them.
