Bangalore: Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda seems to be very much pleased with the victory of six official party candidates in the MLC polls. At the same time he said it was high time the parties introspected the widespread use of money and caste factor in elections.
Commenting on the victory of Suresh from the JD(S), the CM said his victory has clearly indicated the role of cash in elections. It’s difficult to imagine how an independent can win the MLC elections, given the number of members from BJP and Congress in the House; he said and added the parties need to seriously consider the issue.
He also said the defeat of the official Congress candidate revealed the internal squabbles in the party. On the other hand, KPCC President G Parameshwar said the Congress leadership would jointly own responsibility for the defeat of Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi and added the party would look into the reasons for the same.
