Manipal : Mere chalking out plans to eradicate child labour is not suffice. What is needed is follow up measures to ensure that the schemes are effectively implemented, said Udupi Fast Track Court Judge GS Revankar.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Anti-Child Labour Day programmes organized at Rajathadri on June 12, Tuesday under the joint auspices of the District Administration, Udupi District Legal Services Authority and Department of labour.
Revankar further said it was abject poverty conditions at home and various other problems which were forcing some parents to send their miner children for work. enough. Many social organizations should unitedly work to tackle this problem, he added.
Prabhaker Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Udupi Zilla Panchayat who presided over the function stressed the need for concerted efforts on the part of the administration and various organizations in eradicating the menace of child labour.
Municipal Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak administered the oath against child labour.
