Mangalore: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) raised some 50 olld years ago, to help the Indian Army jawans, make its presence felt here on Sunday, to celebrate its Day in City. As part of a Countrywide 63rd year celebrations, 250 cadets assembled on St. Aloysius’ College grounds, for a parade. R.K. Shetty, a retired warrant officer, was the chief guest.
In his address, Shetty asked the boys to help national integration and strengthen the army to build and protect the country. Its motto was “national unity and discipline”, and all cadets should represent this idea, he urged.
Francis Almeida, SAC vice-principal, advised cadets to contribute to the nation-building plans, and work for the welfare of the Indian society.
Ramanand Shetty from Urwa (ANO) shared the dais. He appreciated the local university raising Mangalore NCC zone in the eye of the nation.
Lt. Shakin, SAC associate NCC officer, co-ordinated the programme which had stage items. 250 Cadets from several colleges were in the march-past and weapon display, and the general briefing activities.
