Mangalore: Nagara Panchami, the first of the Hindu festivals in the month of Shravana was celebrated throughout the district with gaiety and fervor. Devotees flocked the Sri Anantha Padmanabha Temples at Kudupu and Manjeshwar, Kukke Subrahamanya Temple and other temples which have Lord Subrahamanya as the presiding deity.
At Kudupu, thousands of devotees had lined up since early morning to worship Lord Anantha Padmanabha.They offered milk, tender coconut, honey, turmeric and flowers to the idols of Naga.
Devotees also offered special poojas like Panchamritha Abhisheka, Naga Tambila to the God, There was even an Annasantharpane wherein thousands of devotees had meals at the temple.
Thousands of devotees also flocked the Sharavu Sri Mahaganapathi Temple in Mangalore.
In Udupi: Thousands of devotees offered prayers to the serpent God in various temples in the district including the Vasuki Ananthapadmanabha Temple at Badagupete, Sagri Vasuki Ananthapadmanabha Temple, Thekkatte and at various nagabanas spread across the district.
At the Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sode Mutt, offered special pooja to and abhisheka to the Naga idols.
