Mangalore : The BJP in the last election had assured to give sincere, clean, corruption free and public supporting rule in the city limits, but nothing has been fulfilled, said Sunil Kumar Bajal, CPI(M) secretary.
He was speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on August 22, Wednesday. He said that earlier the congress party had implemented the Self Assessment tax to the house and plain land and BJP had announced to cancel the system, but after came into power, they implemented the Self Assessment tax system accordingly as decided.
The MCC had also increased the drinking water bill to Rs 100 from Rs 50 and also decreased the maximum water usage to 15,000 litres. When the members of CPI(M) and DYFI organized a silent procession to oppose it, the women and children of the organisation were harmed during the lathi charge imposed by the BJP rule and cases were filed against them and threatened, but still the members continued to protest in the same manner and were successful in reducing the bill from Rs 100 to Rs 65.
The MCC have become the puppet under the hands of land and builder mafia and increased the land rate. The MCC has announced to give houses to houseless beneficiaries and around 3500 people have submitted the application, but no single beneficiary have received the house. The corporation without informing the state government on the purchase of land is cheating the poor.
The drainage system which was supposed to be implemented under the Kudcemp scheme has not been completed. In the name of making beautiful and green city, the MCC is concretizing the city roads and have canceled most of the auto rickshaw stands. There are 7000 auto’s in the city and only 86 rickshaw stands are there, if this is the case, were will other drivers park their auto’s for hiring, he said.
Further to oppose such work by MCC and BJP government, the organisation will hold mass dharna in front of MCC at 10 am and the public from Kankanady, Statebank, Nantoor, Yeyyady and Urwastore will start the procession at same time and will join Dharna in front of MCC, he added.
Vasanth Achary, J Balakrishna Shetty, Jayanthi Shetty and Dayanand Shetty were present at the press meet.
