Mangalore : DK Zilla Panchayat , DK Teachers’ Day Celebration Committee, Mangalore Public Instruction Department, and Mangalore Block Teachers’ Day Celebration Committee, Bangalore jointly celebrated the Teachers Day at Town Hall on September 5, Thursday.

MLC Monappa Bhandary inaugurated the event and said that great leader like Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan loved educating children and thus his birthday is celebrated as the Teachers Day.

He also said that three people including mother, father and teacher are important in one’s life that shapes the life and future of the student.

Presiding over the event, MLA J R Lobo felicitated 68 retired teachers with shawl, garland, citation and a memento.

The dignitaries paid the floral tribute o the portrait of Radhakrishnan.

MCC commissioner Ajith Shanady, Balakrishna Shetty, ZP member Asha and others were present.
