Mangalore : State Health Minister Aravind Limbavali said that state government is planning to implement ‘Right to Health’ to ensure good health to the people of the state.
He was speaking at the press meet held at DC Office on September 10, Monday. He also said in the International conference held recently Dr Devi Shetty had submitted a memorandum to implement this law.
Hence Government has started it and now it’s in the initial stage and will further speak to the experts and discussion on its development, he said.
He also said that Wenlock hospital has the fund of Rs 9 crore collected from the donors, practicing doctors and nurses and further will be spend to expand and improve the hospital infrastructure .He said that the dialysis equipment is there in Wenlock Hospital and hence advanced dialysis is required. Hence the directed the district administration to sanction for the expansion of new building. There is lack of doctors and the district requires 899 specialist and 171 MBBS.
Even though the appointment for these categories is done, the doctors are not coming forward to render their service in the government hospital.
Speaking about the health rate, he said that according to the MCC and District Administration the health rate of Dakshina Kannada is satisfactory and there has been two death from the same house after being attacked by the rat fever and now it is been controlled. Regarding the survey for the mosquito breeding, the department has not conducted the survey proper in two taluks, hence he advised them to do it soon.
There is lack of staffs in Wenlock Hospital and appointment process will be done soon. He also said that Nurses who work on contract basis for Rs 8000 and other will be made permanent.
Deputy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat said that the jail ward at Wenlock hospital is very untidy and hence it must be improved, the hospital staffs also do not have quarters and there is no X-Ray machine in the hospital hence it must be implemented, he said.
He also said that government must support super specialty wing which is required. The hospitals 250 beds must increase to 500 beds, he said.
The MRI machine which costs around Rs 4 – Rs 5 crore will not be done in Rs 9 Crore, hence government must provide the amount to implement it, he said.
Minister Limbavali said that Vajapayee Arogya Sri Yojana will be implemented in Bangalore and Mysore from October for the BPL Holder. The yojana will provide treatment for 402 different types of diseases facilitated in 135 hospitals and government will be Rs one lakh for the treatment, he added.
