Kushalnagar :  A head on collision between two cars near Bailukoppa here on December 6m Thursday resulted in the death of seven passengers, including six from a single family.

The deceased  are Shafi (43), corporator of Suntikoppa,  Ramiza(36), his wife, their children Irfan (19), Imran (16), Tasmiya (13), Afnan (4) and brother Rafiq (26) and former ZP member Mysore Chowdaiah(50), If six of them died on the spot, two children later died in a hospital in Mysore.

It is learnt, Shafi’s son was driving when the mishap took place.  Though usually Shafi and his brother Rafiq who ran a shop at Shuntikoppa used to travel a bus to visit their mother at Periyatana, on that fateful day  they chose to travel by car.

Though the Mysore-Bantwal road where the accident took place has been widened, the absence of a divider has led to the accident.

A case has been registered in Bailukoppa police station.
