Mangaluru: As many as 70 activists from VHP, Sri Rama Sene and Bajrangdal were detained on November 10, Saturday for trying to stage protest against Tipu Jayanthi celebration despite the enforcement of prohibitory orders.

Those detained include Sharan Pumpwell and others who had arrived with black flags near the Zilla Panchayat auditorium, the venue of the Tipu Jayanthi celebration organised by the district administration.
