Mangalore : Department of Criminology Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work in association with city police commissionerate organized a state level seminar on ‘Cyber Crime’ at college auditorium on September 14, Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the seminar, IGP (Western Range) Prathap Reddy said that no one has the right to tamper others documents and it is a crime.
Speaking on the use of mobile phones, he said that most of the times the mobile phones belonging to others are been misused by others taking advantage due to the carelessness of the young generation. At present 40% of mobiles are used for value added services, as per the survey, he said.
He also said that conducting one seminar on cyber crime in a year will not wash out the crime completely, but such more programmes must be organized to prevent crimes.
Reddy said that DK is the first district to have an interaction with the experts. He urged the students to understand the values of the seminar since they are victims of cyber crime.
This seminar teaches the importance and the proper use of mobile phones and Internet.
He also unveiled the logo of the criminology department.
Professor of Criminology Dr B Ashok introduced the programme to the participants. Saritha D’Souza welcomed the guests and gathering.
Presiding over the event, Principal Dr Sophia N Fernandes, said that the seminar will build a friendly relation between the police and the students.
DK Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal, SP Kavita, Former Principal of Roshni Nilaya Dr Jacintha, police officers from Traffic and crime department were also present.
