Moodabidre: On Dec 16 at 4 PM a meeting of all Team managers has been arranged to chalk out programmes neatly for a sports Rally taking place in Dakshina Kannada district for the first time and in Karnataka only third time. The five-day sports show is organised entirely by Alva’s Education Foundation that has enough means, to encourage sports events as part of students’ curricular activities apart from cultural events handled so far. Competitions are held in 22 divisions, for men and women separately. A half-marathon of 12 Kms race could be a feature of this national sports meet.

The 72nd all India Inter Universities sports/games met will be inaugurate by CM DVS Gowda. The entire campus on Vidyagiri is ready for a highly colourful spectacle. The I-U Athletic championship runs from December 17 to 21 at Swaraj Maidan in town. It will have great athletic persons like Karnataka’s Poovamma and Kerala’s Chintu Luke.

A flame will be taken out at 3PM on Moodabidre Hanuman temple premises, to reach S. Maidan, at 4-30 and the inaugural event will end by 6-30PM on December 17.

The procession will be have cultural scenes to the maximum, with no precedent.

Several dignitaries like r. Sri Prakasa of RGU will be present. There will be 300 techies, over a 1000 trainers and managers, and a lot many competitors turning out under elaborate arrangements, courtesy and food items.
