Mangalore : The Crime Prevention and Detection Squad of the Railway Protection Force from Palakkad division on Tuesday seized from a passenger Rs. 8 lakh unaccounted for cash. A release said two RPF constables, on suspicion, questioned Sandeep Singh (25) from Bihar travelling on S8 coach of the Chennai Central-Mangaluru Central West Coast Express and found on him a large amount of cash, when the train was running between Vadakara and Thalassery railway stations early on Tuesday morning.

The constables then seized the unaccounted for cash, as the passenger could not give any reason for carrying the money, according to the release.

Following directions from Divisional Security Commissioner, Palakkad, the case has been handed over to the Income Tax office in Kannur, the release said.
