Mangalore : A gory mishap reported from Jokatte near Baikampady in Mangalore on the afternoon of May 6, Sunday, claimed the lives of eight labourers who worked at the MSEZ site. Around 25 labourers were on their way to the MSEZ site when the speeding Tempo Trax in which they were travelling, went out of control and fell into a 10 feet deep gorge. Nearly 11 labourers were injured in the mishap and are admitted to AJ Hospital.
All the labourees were from north India and it has been alleged that the Tempo Trax meant for cargo transport was used by MSEZ to transport labourers.
Agitated locals reportedly stoned another vehicle of the MSEZ which was carrying labourers and passing that way. Panambur police are investigating the case.
