Udupi: The Department of Health and Family Welfare will take up the first round of campaign to administer oral pulse polio drops to 82,872 children up to the age of five in Udupi district on Sunday.
Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis said of the 82,872 children, 38,728 were in Udupi taluk, 29,965 in Kundapur taluk, and 14,179 in Karkala taluk.
The department will set up 670 booths across the district. Of this, 89 would be in urban areas, while 581 in rural areas.
The Accredited Social Health Activists, anganwadi workers, junior health assistants, and members of voluntary organisations will work as volunteers.
As many as 41 transit booths will be set up in remote areas of the district. “All parents should bring their children to the booths to administer pulse polio drops,” Ms. Francis said.
The second round of the campaign will be taken up on March 11, Ms. Francis said.
