Mangalore : District Health Officer Dr O Srirangappa informed the ZP meeting held here on June 13, Thursday that so far 35 and 57 cases have been found to be ELISA positive fin tests conducted by government and private hospitals respectively in the district, making the confirmed dengue figure a total of 92 cases.
The officer said though so far four deaths have been reported, only one is confirmed to be due to Dengue
It was the Dengue issue that prevailed all through the meeting. There was an audio visual presentation of the same prepared by the Department of Health and Family Welfare of Government of Karnataka.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel wanted to know whether the families of those who died of suspected Dengue too would be considered for compensation, the DHO said it is left to the discretion of the government.
There were some complaints that the health officials have not been doing their duties efficiently.
One ZP Member Santosh Kumar Rai demanded that the ZP proceedings be held in Tulu. However, responding to this, ZP Chief Koragappa Naik said that cannot be possible as many government officials do not know the language.
