Vitla : A class 9 student drowned after he accidentally slipped into a lake in Kotikere in Vitla on Thursday.

Ashwad Ahmed, 13, a resident of Kadambu village, was walking home from school, when he accidentally slipped and fell into the lake. Passersby pulled him out of the water. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.

Police said Kotikere lake is a picnic spot and many come to the lake to swim. A case has been registered at Vittal police station.
