Tirupathi: Perhaps we can recall that President of India Pratibha D. Patil (Shekhawat) went to Tirupathi to worship Thimmappa (God) there, and ever so many bigwigs (governors, CMs, Actors, newly married ones) in high profile lives, have visited the Seven Hills top temple in AP, bordering Karnataka, but as Sikh visiting Tirupathi has not taken place even in Nehru’s or Indira’s times.
But on Wednesday, Sept.1, PM Manmohan Singh was there, up in the hill temple to see and worship the Lord Vishnu, when all Hindu devotees welcomed him in great cordially and brotherly affection, in a splendorous way in Tirumala. It was his maiden visit to an ancient haloed temple.
He was received with traditional honours by the priests and administrators alike. The AP Governor, ESL Narasimhan, accompanied him. Music and Rymns in Sanskirt greeted him as he entered the Garbha griha sanctum. Locals MLA (actor Chiranjeevi) and MP (Chinta Mohan) were with him. Tirupathi will have an airport soon for international visits.
