Kasargod : Police resorted to lathi charge during a protest organised by the SFI outside the Revenue Divisional Office in Kanhangad on July 2, Tuesday. The SFI took out a march to the office opposing the admission norms introduced by the government wherein  self-financing engineering colleges were given 65 per cent  management quota in admission while earlier it was 50 per cent.

There was an heated altercation and even stone pelting when police prevented the agitators from entering the office. Two policemen were also injured in the stoning. Finally police resorted to lathi charge in which several were injured.

Three SFI members KM Girish Balan, K Vineesh and AV Shivaprasad were also arrested.
