Mangalore: In an year’s time from now, Pandeshwara Fire Station (started in 1942) will be developed into one of the most equipped and uptodate Fire Services Brigade Stations, in the state, was the promise made today by the topmost women police officer, Jija M. Harisingh, DGP, incharge of Fire Brigades in Bangalore, speaking in city.
Mega Media News spoke to her in a rare occasion, when she paid a visit to the Kadri Fire Brigade station, and later reached Pandeshwara Centre. She received a guard (salute) of honour from the Fire Brigade staff, before reviewing the work of the Fire services staff and equipments available at the station.
She promised to present well – trained fire officers along with modern equipments to rush fire engines whenever an accidental fire takes place. A Chief fire officer and a regional fire officer are on the cards.
At present, hardly any major fire breaks out in the coastal areas, reminiscent of Malpe boats fire tragedy, many years ago. But there are haunting problems of road widening all over the city, when fire engines have to rush, to put out a major fire. Temporarily (until all roads are widened) to enable ambulances, fire engines, and city safety guards to reach a site of accident or-arson, the foundation stone – laying ceremony had to wait all these days, Jija informed Mega Media News.
