Mangalore : B. Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment inaugurated ‘Anna Bhagya’, a rice distribution programme organized by DK District Administration at Town Hall on July 10, Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that as soon as congress government came into power, the implementation of rice distribution to the poor people at Rs 1 per kg was discussed in the first cabinet meeting.
The BPL card holders were given rice at Rs 3 per kg, but congress government has implement 30 Rice distribution in Rs 1 each, he said.
He also said that along with launching the rice distribution programme in Mangalore, the rice distribution programmes are also held in Puttur, Sullia and Belthangady.
MLA J R Lobo said that the government had made it possible to distribute the rice within a short time. Collecting and storing 6000 metric ton of rice to distribute to the poor people and also maintaining the financial status is not possible by any government but Congress government has made it possible.
