Mangalore : District Committee members of Construction Workers Federation of India (CWFI) staged a protest demanding to fulfill various demands of labourers in front of Assistant Labour Commissioner’s office at Bendorewell on October 4, Monday.
Vasantha Achary, General Secretary of CPI (M) speaking at the protest said that government must increase the pension amount from Rs 300 to Rs 1000.
He also demanded to give scholarships to every student who will pass SSLC and the must compensate the amount of Rs 25, 000 for the natural death of the workers.
BM Bhat, President of CITU, District Committee said that the government should form an advisory board and the Labour Department to cooperate in fulfilling the demands of the Federation.
Later the protestors submitted the memorandum to Venkatesh Appaiah Sindhi, Assistant Commissioner of Labour Department.
Balakrishana Shetty, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Shashidhar Shakthinagar, Vasudeva, Shashindra Kukyan, Shankar and Rathnakar of Moodbidri and others were present.
