Udupi :  The Kaniyoor Mutt, one of the Ashta Mutts of Udupi witnessed Kattige Muhurtha, a ritual performed prior to the Paryaya. Sri Vidya Vallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Mutt is the next Paryaya Seer who will be ascending the peetha in January next year

On Sunday, a procession carrying the firewood or Kattige was taken out from kaniyoor Mutt to the Krishna Mutt where the fire wood was stocked in the form of a chariot of the Mutt.

Akki Muhurtha and Bale Muhurtha were also performed, both these also being pre-paryaya rituals.

The fire wood that is collected as part of Kattige Muhurtha will be used for cooking prasadam and food for devotees.

Bhatha Muhurtha will be held in December, Nagaraj Bhat, Manager of Kaniyoor Mutt, Raghupathi, Diwan and others were present.
