Managlore : Senior Litterateur Dr Amrutha Someshwar will be conferred with the ‘Karanth Puraskar’ as a part of 109TH Birth Anniversary of Dr Kota Shivaram Karanth, said Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishath.
Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodland on October 5, Tuesday, he said that the award function will be held at Town Hall on October 10, Sunday at 5 pm.
He also said that, District in charge minister Krishna J Palemar will inaugurate the event and senior scholar Erya Lakshminarayana Alva will preside over the function.
MLA Yogesh Bhat will give away the prize to the winner for drawing Karanth’s picture in the card competition. Kumble Sundar Rao, president of Karnataka Yakshagana Academy will distribute prizes for the winners of essay competition to be held on Karanth, he said.
B R Bhat, chairman of Corporation Bank, MVCS Karanth, chairman of Karnataka Bank, MB Abdul Rehaman, president of Beary Sahitya Academy, Bhuvanabhirama Udupa of ‘Yugapurusha’, publicity officer K Rohini and  Kishan Hegde, chief organizer of Sri Saligrama Mela will participate as the chief guest.
Shri Durga Childrens Mela and students of Canara High School Urwa will present the Thenkutittu Bayalata ‘Panchajanya’ at 2.30 pm and Badagutittu Yakshagana Bayalata ‘Jambhava Kalyana’ by Krishnayaji Balaga by Sri Saligrama Mela at 6 pm.
