Bangalore: A 4 year old Royal Bengal Tiger in Bannerghatta Park has died on Tuesday morning, succumbing to toxic remnants in the Kidney. This is the third death due to infection of salmonella, it is said, in the suburban Zoo of Bangalore.
Minchu, the tiger, was kept in isolation to prevent its infection spreading to other 41live tigers in the park. 15 of them are under treatment. Minchu had a sister Divya which died of same infection on Sept 12 local Zoo officer stated. A Siberian baby tiger in its 45th day died on Sept 18. Autopsy reports confirmed the cause of 3 deaths being common.
The 15 tigers kept separately are recovering very well, Chittiappa informed. The Zoo is a major tourist attraction with live tigers all over the Park is 30 years old, spread over 20,000 acres and surrounded by dense forests. Animals are daily fed with 1300 kgs. of beaf here.
