Mangalore : Ivan D’Souza, President of DK District Karmika Parishat Bus Employees Association has informed that the Bus operators and the district administration have agreed to fulfill around 18 demands of the employees if city, service and express buses in DK and Udupi districts.
Addressing a press meet at Hotel Woodlands on Wednesday, he said the demands of the bus employees had gone unheard since the past seven years. The apathy of the officials forced the bus employees to go for a bus bundh agitation, he said adding the strike was called off following an assurance of the Deputy Commissioner. He said a nine member committee has been formed to discuss the demands.
He said a meeting held at the RTO office in the presence of DCP Dharmaiah decided to consider 13 demands The bus operators and DC have agreed to introduce ID cards, e ticket system, pension scheme, uniforms and other demands in case of bus drivers, conductors cleaners who have served in a particular bus for over 18 months
