Mangalore : SP Abhishek Goel said that DK District police have successfully arrested six persons in relate to temple thefts in Belthangady, Punjalakatte, Bantwal and Udupi in Manihalli Bantwal on July 18, Thursday.
Speaking at the press meet held at SP Office on July 19, Friday, he said the police have seized number of silver, panchaloha and gold items including Jain Thirthankar Idol from the thieves.
The arrested are identified as, Thimmayya son of late Range Gowda, hailing from Erada Kere, Kadoor of Chikmagalur; Somanath alias Somesh son of Late Papayya Vasala hailing from Belaattalli Harnalli Arasikere of Hassan, Jayaraj, Ganga alias Gangaraj, Babu alias Rudra and Netra.
SP Goel said that in a month the district has reported various theft cases including Rama Mandir in Bhramarakutlu, Bantwal, Chandikaparameshwari Temple Bantwal, Bangadi Basadi in Belthangadi and Ballamanja Shri Anantheshwara Temple Punjalkatte.
He said that under his leadership, the district police has arrested the thieves based on the suspicion check of cars conducted at night.
SP said that on June 12, the police team led by PSI Ravi B S who were was on night patrol near Uppinangady had suspicion on Tata Indica car bearing register number KA 19 B 9116 and chased them, but their attempt was failed. Further team led by Bantwal PSI Mahesh Prasad nabbed them in Bantwal, he added.
