Mangalore : SP Abhishek Goel said 21 youth from the Malekudiya community will be appointed Home Guards for one year in the district as part of a scheme initiated by the District Administration.

He said youth from Sullia, Kadaba, Belthangady and  Uppinangady will be appointed and added that Rs 10  lakh  has been  sanctioned for the  purpose. He said the appointed youth will regulate traffic and will be entitled to Rs 250 pay per day.
