Udupi : All the five accused in the Manipal gang rape case will be in judicial custody till August 12. Their earlier judicial custody period ended on July 29, Monday when all the five were produced before the District Court.

The main accused Yogish, Hariprasad and Anand were sent back to Shimoga jail were they were earlier lodged while Balachandra and Harindra, elder brothers of Yogish and  Hariprasad arrested for destroying evidences were sent to Hiriadka prison.

 The Kerala origin MBBS student  of Manipal University was gang raped by three autorickshaw bound men after kidnapping her while she was returning to her house from the University Library on the night of June 20.

The police had arrested three of the accused a week after the incident, while two others were arrested later on  for destroying evidences.
