Mangalore : Namma Tulunadu Trust in association with various organisations will organize a Hakkothaya jatha on September 7 demanding the state government to implement Tulu languages as the official language of the state and also to include it in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution.
G V S Ullal, founder president of the trust addressing at the meet meet held at Press Club on July 29, Monday said that Tulu language has the history of 3000 years and spoken by more than one crore people. Such a rich language must get the classical status in state and must be included in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution, he said.
He also said that even after submitting the proposal, the government has not responded to any of the proposals.
The jatha will commence from Jyothi circle and move towards DC Office to continue the Hakkothaya meeting. The participating organisation must register their organisation name before August 7 to the trust, he said. The preparatory meeting of all committee presidents will be held at Sri Krishna Kalyana Mandir, Mallikatte, Kadri on August 10, he added.
Namma Tulunad Trust honorary president of the Trust Harikrishna Punaroor, Treasurer Vidyasri Rai and members Mohammed Arif and Krishna Bhat were present.
