Mangalore: The proposed Sultan Battery-Tannirbavi hanging bridge had made much news. Leaders also boasted that the project when completed will give a boost to tourism. But the project has not made much ay.
In fact the project works were initiated in February and was scheduled to be completed by December this year. But the pillar works of the bridge are not yet complete.
The bridge if completed will also benefit people of Tannirbavi and Sultan Battery as they otherwise depend on ferry service and are subject to great problems particularly during monsoons.
The project has been proposed at a cost of Rs 12 crores and the project work has been entrusted to Yojaka (India) Pvt Ltd. It has now been learnt that the project works could not make much headway for want of funds.
