The Sixth Kannada literary and cultural Conference jointly organised by Suma Sourabha fortnightly and Ranga Samaja Cultural Institution, Bangalore was held at Town Hall on June 5, Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, M.B Puranik, convener of Sharada Maha Vidyalaya said that the contributions of Harikrishna Punarur to the field of Kannada literature during his turn as the president of state Kannada Sahitya Parishat is spectacular.
Presiding over the function, Harikrishna Punarur urged kannadiga’s to protect and preserve Kannada language and culture and work more for its welfare. He said the people may admit their children to school of any medium, but they must have love towards the Kannada language.
Mangalore’s Mayor Rajani Dugganna, released the souvenir ‘Sahitya Sinchana’.
The achievers like Damodar Shenoy, artist and Ashok Shetty, journalist were felicitated on the occasion for their contribution for their respective fields.
Narayana Gowda, President, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bangalore, Shivananda Karkera, President, Gokarnanatha Co-Operative Bank, Ramesh Krishna, Manjunath S Revnkar, Preethi Narayana and others, were present. MJ Rao, editor of Suma Sourabha Magazine welcomed the guest and gathering.
