Sullia : Namitha, a second PUC student of Alva’s College will be representing India in the Asian Youth Games to be held at Nanjing China from August 16 to 25.
The rural talent has been an Alva’s student since eighth standard and was admitted under Sports Quota. She will be participating in shot put event in which she has excelled in many contests.
She hails from Kollamogaru and is the daughter of Kushalappa Gowda-Pushpavathi couple.
She was qualified for the Asian Youth Games after she recorded 13.56 meters at the National Youth Games at Kerala.
Namitha has two state level records in shot put in the 14-16 years category. Rajeev, Physical Instructor of Alva’s College is her coach and she now hopes to get some help from the government to help her excel through better training.
