Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has requested the public and organizations and institutions to treat the national flag with respect and honour. He said any instance of disrespect or offending of national flag will attract penalty.

The DC said flag hoisted on independence Day should be lowered before sunset and there should not be any instance wherein torn, damaged flags or hoisted.

 Even plastic flags are banned, the DC said and urged the public to inform the authorities if they find anyone  showing disrespect or offending the  Flag. Public can complain by calling Toll Free Number  1077.
