Udupi : The Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi and other saffron organizations organised a protest rally on August 19, Monday to protest against illegal cattle trafficking. The rally which began at Jodukatte concluded at Clock Tower.

Suprasad Shetty, Udupi District President of VHP, who spoke on the occasion, said despite ban on cow slaiughter  cattle is being illegally slaughtered in unauthorized abattoirs in various places.

He also demanded that the government declared cow as a national animal and urged for stern action to prevent cattle theft.

Uday Kumar Shetty, District BJP Chief, Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, General Secretary,  Lalaji Mendon, former Kaup MLA and others were present.
