Mangalore  : Gold and valuables worth Rs one lakh were stolen from a house at Bharatinagar in Bejai on August 23, Friday. The theft occurred during broad daylight when the family members had gone to attend a function.

Padmanabha, a labour contractor was residing in the rented house behind KSRTC bus stand. He had been to the house warming function in the morning. But the by the time the family returned in the evening, the house remained ransacked.

The thieves had entered the house by bending the grills of the bathroom window and had stolen 40 grams gold, 2 mobile sets and a cash of Rs 5000.

Barke police are investigating the case.
