Mangalore : Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, President of the Committee against saffronization of textbooks in Karnataka has said that the Committee has found some objectionable contents in the social science textbook of Sixth standard (1st and 2nd semester) and ninth standard history text books.
He said it was not advisable for the Congress government to continue the text book committee formed by the previous BJP rule and alleged the appeal to revamp the committee has fallen on deaf ears.
He said the textbook committee did not follow the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 guidelines. In most of the lessons, importance is given to Hindu history and rituals and they do not have lessons on women, backward classes and other necessary issues. In class 6 textbook, under fundamental rights, much details are not given about religious freedom, culture, educational rights etc clearly revealing that the text books intended to target minority community, he said.
Committee treasurer Nigel Pereira, Alwyn Colaco, Ramashesha Shetty, Walter Maben among others were present at the press meet
