Belthangady : In a tragic incident, Haneef Laila, President of the Belthangady Taluk JD(S) Minorities Cell committed suicide  on September 10, Tuesday. His body was found hanging in his house in the morning.

The reason for the suicide is not known. However, it is said he faced financial problems. Haneef was an autorickshaw driver and is survived by his wife and four children.

Family sources said he had left for Kakkinje on September 9 and had returned from there early Tuesday morning. He it is learnt, hanged himself later on.

Belthangady police have registered a case.
