Kasargod : Three persons were arrested and eight autorickshaws were seized from them by the Kasargod police on September 11, Wednesday. The three were experts in stealing autorickshaws from crowded places. They used to then alter the autorickshaw, change its looks and sell it.
The arrested are P V Rasheed (26) of Hosadurga, K Ganesh (47), owner of Sri Ganesh workshop at Kushalnagar and Majid Haji (46) of Aavi.
It is learnt Rasheed used to sell the stolen vehicles to Majid who used to then take it to the workshop of Ganesh where it is given an alteration and then sold at whatever price possible.
The first two used to share the amount and give Rs 1000 to the garage owner Ganesh who was even given funds towards repair.
It is learnt they had stolen nearly 20 autorickshaws in one year period. Police are tying to locate the stolen autos.
