Mangalore : The prestigious ‘Sarojini Naidu National Award-2013’ has been abagged by Naina JA of Deccan Herald. Her special report on Women and Panchayatraj entitled ‘Trash to Treasure-Kadaba GP Shows the Way’ which appeared in Deccan herald on June 9 this year has been chosen for the Award given by Hunger Project, a global organization.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2lakhs and a citation. The award will presented on October 1 at India International Centre Annexe, New Delhi.
Naina who did her post graduation in Mass Communication and Journalism from Mangalore University is a gold medalist.
The earlier recipients of the award are Deccan Herald Bureau Chief Ronald Anil Fernandes, Senior Correspondent of Hosa Digantha Kannada Daily Guruvappa Balepuni and Sandhya D’Souza of Deccan Herald.
