Mangalore: A Large number of devotees in association with Hindu Janajagruthi Vedike (HJV) staged a protest march from Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple to DC Office on October 18, Monday demanding regularization of the illegal religious structures on public property.
Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, Laxmisha Gabbaladka, the district secretary of the HJV, said that the Supreme Court order hurts the belief of people belonging to a Hindu community.
He also said that, a number of bhajana mandiras and temples in DK have historical values.
Many ancient and historical structures including Iroli Somanatheshwara Temple, Bajilakeri Mukhyaprana Temple, and Maroli Sooryanarayana Temple, are some structures listed for the demolition.
These ancient temples with historical value must be legalized and regularized even if they fail to produce land documents.
He also accused DC V. Ponnuraj for attempting to demolish temples forcefully and hope to have a change of mind by the DC.
