Puttur : In a shocking incident, a married woman was allegedly kidnapped by some men who arrived by a Scorpio vehicle and then tried to rape her at Madavu in Keyyur near Puttur on September 25, Wednesday evening.

The incident took place when the woman Naushiya, wife of Khader was returning home from the tailoring class which she was operating. It is said when she was close to her house, a Scorpio vehicle stopped near her and the men inside pulled her in and took her to a secluded place at Arambur near Sullia. It is learnt though the men tried to rape her, Naushiya escaped and ran inside a home and telephoned her husband, who later arrived and took her to hospital.

Hundreds of people including PFI members gathered outside the hospital at night demanding action against the assailants.

The police later assured to take action following which the people left the place.
