Mangalore : Hundreds of people participated in a protest staged by the ICYM Central Committee in Mangalore on September 28, Saturday condemning the proposed thermal plant at Niddodi. A protest march was also taken out from Bendore Church grounds to the DC office. The march was inaugurated by Vicar General Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu.

Kiran Manjanabailu, Convenor of the Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi of Niddodi  said people of Niddodi will not allow the project to come up.

Eric Ozario,  Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann and Covnenor of Jagotik Konkani Sanghatan,  in his address, said such projects which are environmentally hazardous should not be allowed.

Alphonse D’Souza, President of Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi,  Dennis D’Silva, State President of IFCKA, Dinesh Holla, noted artiste,  members of ICYM, Catholic Sabha,  All College Students Union and St  Aloysius Students’ Union participated in the protest.
