Mangalore : A compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh each sanctioned to each of the families of the five teenagers who met a watery grave at Phalguni river in Bangrakulur on October 6, Sunday, was distributed by DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai.
Rai met the grieving families and handed over compensation amount. He also told that former union minister Janardhan Poojari too has raised Rs 1.5 lakhs to be distributed to the affected families.
Mangalore North MLA Moidin Bava in whose constituency limits the mishap took place, was instrumental in getting the compensation sanctioned.
The boys who met a watery grave are Yakshit (15), Rakshit (16), Kalandar (16), Prajwal S (15) and Rajesh (16), residents of Kodikalkatte. If the bodies of four of the boys have been traced, the body of Yakshit is yet to be traced.
