Bangalore: The 73 MLAs strong Congress can neither join with JD-S as in 2002 under Dharam Singh, nor it can assert as a majority party. At this peculiar juncture, two MLAs in two days have resigned from Congress, adding salt to the Party wounds in Karnataka.
A man from Jagalur and now Narayana Swamy from Kolar district have submitted their resignations as MLAs, and these papers are accepted by the Speaker, Bopiah , according to reliable sources today. 3 MLAs, one from JD-S, have so far resigned. The Congress has 71 MLAs now, while JD-S has only 27, and together they make less than a hundred, while BJP has 106 in kit.
16 MLAs (11 BJP, five rebels) were thrown out of legislature by Bopiah, the speaker. This issue has gone to state High Court for a decision, as on Oct.21.
