Mangalore : In an effort to promote petroleum conservation, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily launched a mega campaign in city on October 14, Monday under the joint aegis of HPCL and Maco Co-operative Society Ltd.
In his address Moily stressed the need for oil conservation and added Rs 2 crore could be saved in a week by him and all officials in his ministry by travelling by public modes of transport every Wednesday.
He said a circular has been sent to all CMs and all ministries to follow suit and added there are plans to reduce crude oil import by 2020.
State Minister Abhayachandra Jain, MLA JR Lobo, Legislator Moidin Bava and several were present.
