Belthangady : Following serious general public outcry and loud protests in cities like Bangalore, Mangalore and Bethangady led by MLA,s Vasntha Bangera, Shakunthala Shetty and local leader Mahesh Thimarodi and others. The Sowjanya rape and murder case has been handed over by the state government to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on 5th November, more than a year after the infamous event, as stated by home minister K.J George.
This was stated by Belthangady MLA Vasanth Bangera, who expressed his happiness at the turn of events for the action taken by the State Government in the last few days.
The decision to hand over the sowjanya rape and murder case from CID to CBI in Delhi was taken up after Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. Veerendra Heggade had requested the Government to conduct the investigation proper by the CBI itself.
