Mangalore : A Coir bus with various Coir products mats, frames, handbags, clothes, hats, umbrellas, paintings, jewellery, clothes, footwear and so on, was flagged of on Tuesday by Minister B. Ramanath Rai in charge of DK District at the Town hall.
The bus expected to go round all the important towns in DK and Udupi districts creating an awareness among people to make use of Coir more and more in their life’s.
Coir has an international market in terms of thousands of cores of rupees. The Coir board works from Kerala and is expected to have a sub office in Mangalore soon, according to its Chairman T M Shahid. The Coir products in view of abundance of coconut trees on the West Coast have great potential for exports all over the world and within India also. The bus contains information and an expo of various Coir materials and the machinery used to create them and sell in open markets. This is explained to the people at large wherever the bus moves all over India.
The bus started from Kanyakumari in its journey to New Delhi as on 25th November 2013, where it will be greeted by none other than the Dr.President Pranab Mukherjee, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and a host of Minister and MPs of UPA government, besides the general public of Delhi, who have shown keen interest in Coin materials. The Bus started from Kerala (Kanyakumari) October 5,2013 on its way to the capital of India via Mangalore.
Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel was present among others (Ivan D’Souza, Shashidar Hegde, Badruddin, Ashraf, M S Mohammed, Kodijal Ibrahim) at the city function where the bus was sent to Udupi.
