Belthangady : In an unbelievable and ghastly accident on the roads of Nekkilu in Belthangady taluk on Nov.20, a cyclist, Dinesh Gowda (23) died on the spot, when a Bolero van driven by Balakrishna Poojary of Agricultural dept. of Belthangady, rammed into the bike this morning soon angry crowds gathered around the unfortunate youths and set fired to Bolero van driven by Balakrishna Poojary who escaped their clutches and fled. He was still absconding when police teams from 4 areas of the taluk rushed to the spot and made enquiries.
The mob would not let the body be lifted into an Ambulance van that appeared soon to take Dinesh’s body to a hospital for treatment.
Obviously, Dinesh died due to major injuries he sustained in the fearful accident on the road. Due to time delay and mob’s insistence to catch the killer before removing the body, led to death and lack of treatment in time. The police teams (4) had to resort to a lathi- charge to disperse the violent crowds who would not let the body are taken for posthumous examination.
Later, the body was taken by the police of DK to the govt. Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore for necessary tests and made out a report on the incident.
Belthangady MLA Vasanth Bangera and Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi of Praja Prabhutva Vedike arrived on the scene when police were dispersing the angry crowds.
