Mangalore : A protest meeting was held in front of DC office, Mangalore on Thursday Nov 21, 2013 by Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association Dakshina Kannada . It conducted a protest against the so-called Display card system being thrust upon them by DK district Administration and Regional Transport Department from Jan 1, 2014 onwards.

Speaking at the rally leader Bhashker salian stated that such an arrangement of Displaying on a card, details of every Auto-rikshaw driver at the back side of his seat would harm the interests of all the auto drivers and the leadership of their association.

He went on to say that the Auto-rikshaw drivers association had a long history and the leaders had solved many of the problems of the association members till now. In this light, the Display Card system will play havoc against the entire Auto-rikshaw travel system. He, there for wanted the system to be scrapped to rescue auto drivers from ignominy.

Former corporator Vinay chandram Rama Mugarodi, ABKS Sudatta Jain Shirthady, Dalit leader Hemanth, Suresh Shetty, Ramesh Kotian, Chandappa Bajpe and others participated in the protest rally.
